How do you say bondage in French?

Bob (Wingate) and I recently came up with quite the idea. He wrote a terrific post on his blog, and I recommend you guys check it out (link on the side).

But then again...I am always looking for more chances to be servile...so how about I make it easier for everyone and just copy/paste?

"A hot young friend of mine is going to Europe for six weeks in mid-June and we thought it might be fun for me to give him a crash course in French, but with a twist: he’ll be tied up in a variety of ways during each five-hour session, and punished when he gets things wrong or fails to learn his lessons well. We’ve been having a wonderful time working out the various details, starting with his school uniform—ideally English schoolboy, well, traditional English Schoolboy, which almost certainly no longer exists: blazer with school emblem on the pocket, shirt and tie, shorts, knee-length socks, black shoes, and that wonderful short-peaked cap. Unfortunately, this outfit with its classical cut is so traditional that it virtually no longer exists—especially the emblemed blazer and that cap—though we’re looking. If anyone knows where such uniforms can be found in small adult sizes, please email me…fast, since classes start mid-May.

The idea is that there will be a 15-minute tying and untying break between each half-hour session. At the conclusion of each session my friend loses another piece of clothing, in an order yet to be determined. Both the first half hour and the last will be devoted to oral quizzes: the first to a review of his homework and what he learned the day before; the last to what he just learned over the course of the afternoon. For the first, he’ll be tied either standing, with his arms pulled over his head and his legs spread, or in a chair with his hands behind his back, his feet lashed to the chair legs; his genitals will be pulled through his shorts, and each time he gets something wrong a weight will be added to them. For the end-of-afternoon quiz, by which time he should be practically naked, he’ll be spreadeagled on the bed and every wrong answer will earn him a clothespin on some part of his body.

He’s very keen to learn, and we both hope that being strictly tied and threatened with punishment will focus his mind and keep him from getting too restless and fidgety. He was not a great language student during the one year of French he studied in high school, and his French vocabulary is limited to words like yes and no and hello and good-bye and garage and restaurant, and possibly the first verse of Frère Jacques. It will be interesting to see how successful our new didactic method turns out to be; it may work so well that we find ourselves encouraged to patent it, with the idea of getting it used in some of our finer institutions of learning.

But before we get there, we do have some hurdles to overcome. The trouble with learning a language, unlike learning physics or chemistry, is that you have to work on your pronunciation and can’t be kept gagged, unless you’re taking dictation, or a written test, both of which of course will become part of the regular curriculum. This is too bad, since both my friend and I love gags. Fortunately, you can be kept blindfolded, or at any rate be blindfolded a lot, since blindfolds tend to cut down on visual distractions, and improve concentration.

Please send suggestions on ways you think we may improve on these extraordinary teaching methods."

Well? Suggestions? Don't be shy! Come on, I just told you all how much I want to serve hehe.

Don't suppose you're passing through London on your travels are you?

As I speak a little French I'm sure I'll be able to help with any homework you have... :)

I should mention that my husband learned to count in Finnish by bondage language lessons from two Finns who were over this past New Year's.

This sounds great Ben. I'm a mathematics professor, and I've often thought that something like this would make for a very effective and enjoyable teaching method!

One suggestion - some of the punishments should be short and sharp. More like a smack with a flogger or a slap on the ass. I think the sudden intense sensation will make for a more direct association with the moment (and the correct answer) than would a slow build of the type you describe.

Good luck with it. And let me know if you ever need to prepare for a math exam...
